Workshop on Arithmetic and Algebra of Rational Points

Summary

Workshop on Arithmetic and Algebra of Rational Points (WAARP) is a workshop connecting communities in number theory which share a common interest in questions to do with rational points on varieties.  Participants have been selected from three main specialisms: rational points, abelian varieties, and arithmetic statistics. Participation is by invitation only.

Dates: Monday 11th September — Friday 15th September.
Location: Fry Building, University of Bristol.
Organisers:  Julian Lyczak and Ross Paterson.

Please note:  we have been made aware of a scam attempting to contact participants.  All information about accommodation will come directly from the organisers or staff at the host university.

Aims

The overall goal of this workshop is to foster connections between members of these communities, in a way which puts early-career members at the forefront.  By bringing together senior members of these communities with a large group of early-career members, we aim to provide an energetic and stimulating environment.  The workshop has a code of conduct, which can be found here.

Structure

There will be a small number of talks during the week, from a mixture of senior experts in the field and exciting new early-career members. These will be held in the mornings.  The afternoons will be dedicated to organised research groups, investigating new projects which will establish new and lasting connections across these communities.  All participants are expected to actively contribute to the workshop through their participation in these research groups, and engagement with the talks.
